NovoGeek.com - Krishna's weblog

A technical blog on jQuery, AJAX, JavaScript & modern web technologies

I was lucky to get a copy of the book Pro Javascript Techniques written by my hero, John Resig.
Initially, I thought it is just another routine book on javascript. But believe me, the first few pages of it will change ur notion of javascript from a mere validation stuff to a gr8 programming force of the web!

Happy Birthday to jQuery!

jQuery is three years old today, after being released way back on January 14th, 2006 at the first BarCampNYC by John Resig.

Below are the big features of this release (taken from jQuery's blog):

  • Sizzle: A sizzlin’ hot CSS selector engine.
  • Live Events: Event delegation with a jQuery twist.
  • jQuery Event Overhaul: Completely rewired to simplify event handling.
  • HTML Injection Rewrite: Lightning-fast HTML appending.
  • Offset Rewrite: Super-quick position calculation.
  • No More Browser Sniffing: Using feature detection to help jQuery last for many more years to come.

The full details of the release can be found in the release notes:

First of all, Wish you a Happy New Year 2009! Hope the software industry quickly comes out of recession in this year :)

Last night, my friend was boasting about a software, which creates a context menu option to copy/move a folder when you right click on a folder in Windows. I was searching for a registry tweak which would solve the same without the need of an extra software and found it here. Thanks to PCTools.com for that! There are many such useful, geeky tweaks there. Just try them out.
